The Shire in The Woods offers the perfect setting to enjoy a Minnesota summer complete with, forests, hiking trails, a bridge over a beaver-dammed lake, a labyrinth, ponies, and so much more. You’ll have your choice of camping, a bed in a shared room, or a beautiful private cabin. There are also several miles of hiking trails awaiting your meander.
All tickets come with camping included. If you would like indoor accommodations, they are on a first-come, first-served basis. Each space is so unique and the lodging options so diverse, that we will personally assist you in finding the perfect arrangement for you and all those in your party.
Please see the photos and brief descriptions below for each individual accommodation. We would like to take a moment here to let you know what basic amenities are included in every building. There is free Wi-Fi and each structure has a bathroom with a toilet and shower. Some even have tubs! There are basic kitchenettes in each structure and the bigger lodges have larger kitchens. Each building has a refrigerator, stove-top, toaster ovens, cookware, and dishes. All beds will have bedding, pillows, and extra blankets if needed. Each accommodation also has a wood-burning fireplace as well as fans and air conditioning if desired.
Double occupancy, price totals $70/night per cabin or $35/person per night
The Woodlands cabin is tucked away in the woods. It is the most isolated private dwelling. They consider it the ‘honeymoon suite’ with its comfortable and cozy queen-size bed. It is also a one-room, one level design.
The Meadows has a single level, one-room design that is cozy yet spacious. It overlooks the meadows of the Shire main grounds. There is a king-size day bed for sleeping.
The Loft is set among a circle of trees next to the entrance to the Blueberry Trail. It receives southern sunshine through the big living room/dining room windows. There is a dining table and wood stove on the first level. Two single beds lay at the top of a spiraled staircase on the second floor.

The Birches has a two-floor design. You enter into the main floor with the kitchen and dining areas. There is a 3/4 bathroom as well as a king-size daybed on this first level. Up a spiral staircase leads you to a loft with two more single beds. This lodging price varies slightly depending on how many occupants. It can sleep up to four between the three beds. Four adults splitting the space would be $30/person per night, three adults would pay $40/person per night. The cost for the entire cabin is $120/night.
Tree Lodge- The Tree Lodge is nestled away in the forest and has lots of space in its dual-level design. On the lower level, there is a large living/dining room with two rocking chairs next to a wood-burning fireplace. The upper level has a smaller living room and each bedroom has a spectacular view out into the forest. There is a queen bed in the common space downstairs as well as two bedrooms upstairs, each with two single beds. This cabin can easily sleep 6 people, but one bed is in the living room area. It would be a great fit for families with kids or great for sharing with a group of friends with both the private and open sleeping arrangements. The beds in the private rooms are $30/person per night. The queen-sized daybed price is negotiable so please inquire to work out details for this rental.
The Cedar House is a unique place surrounded by decks and porches. It is built into a hill with the east and north sides facing into the forest and the other sides facing into an open southerly view. There are two bathrooms, one on the main level with a large jacuzzi tub and one in the lower level with a shower. There are three bedrooms on the main level, two with full-sized beds and one with three single beds, one of those single beds is lofted. Two of the bedrooms have private doors outside to a wrap-around deck. Upstairs there is an open loft with 6 more single beds. A bed in the shared loft space is $20/person per night. In the rooms, the price is $30/person per night for each single bed and the full-size bedrooms are double occupancy and would total $60/night or, likewise, $30/person per night when shared by two people.
The Octagon is one of the most unique structures at The Shire. The grand space can be fully experienced once you enter the large vaulted main room. The main room is where we will be offering yoga and movement throughout the weekend and may serve as a meeting space for us in the case of inclement weather. The Octagon also offers a small meditation/prayer room on the main floor next to the kitchen. On the lower level, in addition to the kitchen and large meeting space, is a handicap accessible bathroom and shower along with one bedroom with a single bed. On the second floor rests three more bedrooms, two private rooms with one single bed each, and one room with two single beds. There is another bathroom located upstairs with a large clawfoot tub and skylight. Each of the three private rooms (one single bed each) are $35/person per night, and the double occupancy room (with the two single beds) is $30/person per night.
